Sculptures and Mixed Media paintings Featuring Oil Base accents, Gold Leaf and wire

Acrylic on canvas with hand placed gold leaf accents to add warmth and movement to an image that celebrates the way raindrops hit the ground and then reflect the autumn colors of the trees above.

“October” 48 X 24 in

Acrylic on canvas with organic gold leaf accents to resemble the shimmer and vibrancy found in geodes all over the world deep within the layers of earth.

“Geode” 14 x 11 in

“Golden Fiddle Leaf” 19 x 37 IN

Dark green acrylic background with pressed dried leaves gilded in oil based liquid gold leaf. I created this piece to celebrate the way nature shapes and designs the world around us. I also played with the colors by preparing the artificial canvas with deep natural tones and enriching the organic subjects with metallic.

This piece was created by hand and was made by looping 20 gauge aluminum wire together to create a gold spiral over a deep blue textile framed by wood and a thin gold accent. It demonstrates what is possible when both elegance and strength come together.

“Nordic Shield”

This giant oak leaf was pressed, dried and then gilded with liquid gold leaf. Outlining the leaf is a hand crafted golden wire that brings movement and shape to the piece. This leaf is delicately placed on a hand stretched canvas covered in a dark blue textile and framed by a natural oak colored wood.

“DB the octopus” 24 x 24 in

This creation combines both the worlds of oil and acrylic. The warmest of golds achieved with accents of oil based liquid gold leaf against the cool colors of acrylics on canvas keeps the octopus center stage.

This creation comes from twisting, bending and forming yards and yards of aluminum wire to sculpt a metallic bonsai tree that can continue to be moved into different positions, shapes and forms much like its muse, the Japanese bonsai tree.
